My name is Samuel Muwanguzi, Ph.D., founder and editor of the East African Diaspora Media Watch (EADM)
http://eadm.news/.
We have been in existence for over a year serving, to the best of our abilities, the Diaspora communities originating from the East African Community (EAC) member states and the respective countries in which they work and reside.
(See story "EADM Turns One Year, Optimistic about the Future") at:
http://eadm.news/39-carousel/big/271-eadm-turns-one-year-optimistic-about-the-future
Primarily, we have focused and engaged in activities of the culturally diverse Diaspora communities from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan by highlighting their aspirations and anxieties and sharing in their successes and losses. In the process, we have also engaged with Diaspora communities from other African countries, most especially, Ethiopia, Nigeria, etc.
We are a small team of 5 volunteer professionals dedicated to media ethics in our online publication that has a global reach and perspective. As a 100% community-based platform, we offer a state-of-the-art Web site and a comprehensive coverage of respective Diaspora community activities; pertinent and authentic information that directly impact the lives of our readers. We have been able to publish a set of new stories every fortnight; 1 issue a month; averaging 30 hours a week each, all with NO pay. The context and background we have rendered to our reporting has earned us friends and supporters across the globe.

Over the past year, as we strived to provide news reports with the depth and breadth you so much deserve, we pursued an independent, nonpartisan, and unbiased editorial policy that promotes unity of our diverse cultural communities, democratic ideals, respect for human rights, divergent opinions, and social and gender equity. We are ALL about the aspirations of our readers; in the Diaspora and both their native countries and those of their current residences.

While we continue to pursue an independent editorial policy, we depend on you, our readers, in an interdependent relationship for support and inspiration. The roles you have so generously accomplished as a community of citizen journalists, a new normal, from the comfort of your localities, has further emboldened our resolve to push forward.
However, we are currently operating on a shoestring budget, yet we want to expand in a way that meets the mission and vision of the EADM as eloquently espoused by our founder and editor, Dr. Samuel Muwanguzi. We are therefore requesting you to become part of a 2-phased global effort to financially contribute to our operational costs. We are aiming at raising $5000 in the first phase, an immediate effort so we can acquire basic quality online publishing tools to sustain our operations and competitiveness.

The $5000 is what is keeping us away from reaching our take-off stage. The funds will enable us to acquire photo, audial, and video editing software, 4 recorders, one multi-purpose camera, hosting fees, graphic design charges, office supplies, other overhead expenses, etc. We are therefore requesting you to help bring this amazing goal to reality. Your donation will provide the fuel that will keep EADM.news up and running for years to come. Any little bit helps, no matter how small, it is most appreciated.
We would even love to develop an EADM app, the most affordable and robust one for our purpose that costs $5000, but we are planning to embark on it in the second phase of this campaign. During the two-phased campaign, we are looking to raising $10,000 to enable us put in place the necessary tools for online publishing based on prevailing market trends.

We pledge and plan to continue pursuing our declared commitment because it is consistent with our mission of serving East Africans living and working in the Diaspora by providing them with a credible source of information and a forum that inspires them to interact, network, and celebrate our common and diverse cultural heritage. We still steadfastly envision establishing a channel through which transactional and holistic interactions take place to facilitate East Africans living in the Diaspora to debate and make informed and rational decisions and contributions toward the betterment of their lives, the Diaspora and local communities in East Africa.

We aspire to build and grow a dynamic East African Diaspora community that collectively promotes the formation of a unified East African region founded on democratic values that reflect and respect the unique cultural, economic, social, and political dynamics inherent in the diverse communities that constitute the regional block.
Your contribution towards the attainment of this fundraising goal is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
