{UAH} French presidential election : Emmanuel Macron's easy path to the presidency!
The first round of the French presidential election is through!
Mr Emmanuel Macron tops the poll with 23.9 % of the total votes
cast, followed by Ms Marine Le Pen 21.7%, in third position is François Fillon
with 20% followed very closely in fourth place by Jean-Luc Mélenchon 19%.
Participation in the poll was good, only 22% abstained. Other seven candidates
shared the remaining 16%. The poll has been seen as a disappointment
to Le Pen who excpected around 28%! Mélenchon has also been
surprised with his percentage, he was expecting to qualify for the
second round. Mr Fillon would also
have qualified for the second round had he put much accent on decampaigning
Le Pen and her extremist right programme! He would have beaten Le Pen
and remained the goodnofficial candidate for the right. As for the
second and last round of the election. However he has pleased many by
appealing to all his supporters to vote for Macron in order to bar
extremist Le Pen from acceeding to victory. So has Mr Benoît Hamon who
came fifth with 8% advised all his supporters to vote Macron in the
second round! And very many influential people including celebrities
have also advised against Le Pen. An exit poll indicates that
Macron will win the second round by 62% against Le Pen's 38%. In his victory
speech Macron has promised to work with all groups in order to bring
about a harmonious environment that would unite all French for more
action. Macron's victory has been welcomed in many nations, and he
will be a very successful French leader who will reform society. Now
all candidates are busy meeting their teams to decide on the next
move. Macron is being entertained to a sumptuous
dinner organized by his supporters. The mood is very warmly at a Montparnasse
restaurant. He arrived there in a long procession of cars including
several police vehicles. He is already seen as president!
