{UAH} London Newspapers
Hello,
-- You will have noticed that I have started forwarding to you two of London's great newspapers, The Times and The Evening Standard. The Evening Standard in particular is read by nearly all Londoners when they get back home from work every weekday.
London, as you well know, is the greatest city on earth. It is now home to more than 8.6 million people, the highest the city's population has been since 1939. What's more, 44% of London now consists of black and ethnic minorities, compared to only 28.9% in 2001.
Within its 1,583 square kilometres (611 sq miles) is represented every race, nationality, ethnicity, tribe, culture, language, food, dance, and religion.
London City is also the world's leading centre of learning, business and trade. Some of the greatest ideas and inventions have originated from London, the world's leading hospitals and research institutes can be found huddled in the confines of this ancient city; indeed some of the greatest thinkers known to mankind, such as Karl Marx, call London home and are buried in its its soil. The world's best football players ply their trade in this great city, which is also the mecca of football and sport generally.
It gives me much pleasure therefore to bring a little bit of London to your living rooms and even to your pockets, so that you can keep abreast of what is happening in the in this great city. As the Times welcoming letter recommends:
Read the stories behind the headlines with access to quality journalism. Our comment section features some of the brightest minds in the country and quality viewpoints that run the full spectrum of opinion. Heavyweights like Daniel Finkelstein and Rachel Sylvester rub shoulders with humorous writers such as Caitlin Moran and Giles Coren. With the breadth and depth to suit every reader, The Times and The Sunday Times make sense of complex issues, keeping you not just informed, but well informed.
I hope you enjoy these newspapers, hopefully you will keep abreast with what is happening in the world from the confines of London City, your home away from home. In them, you will meet some of the finest journalists and commentators who have graced the profession of journalism and critical analysis.
Thank You.
Bobby
