OFFICIAL observers from corrupt UGANDA will monitor June's Election in Birmingham amid fears of voter fraud.
A delegation sent from the African state — where the leader of the opposition was put under house arrest last year — will scrutinise the Birmingham Ladywood constituency ahead of next month's poll.
In 2015 Election Commissioner Richard Mawrey QC ruled there had been "massive, systematic and organised fraud" that would "disgrace a banana republic" in the Brummie seat.
But Uganda was last year ranked as the 24th most corrupt country in the world according to the 2016 Corruption Perceptions Index drawn up by Transparency International.
The Ugandans will join observers from Guyana in South America and Australia at a taxpayer funded Commonwealth probe.
According to the Birmingham Post, watchers have been sent in in order to promote "openness and transparency in parliamentary democracy across the world".
But Ukip hit back branding the move "pretty bloody embarrassing".
Couples and even entire extended families were also busted going into voting booths amid concerns attempts were made to sway voting intentions.
And in 2005 five Labour councillors were sacked over claims postal votes had been forged on "an industrial scale"
Ukip — who have consistently campaigned on voter fraud concerns — welcomed the move, but claimed should spark red faces.
Spokesman Patrick O'Flynn told The Sun: "our system has a lot of problems, especially around intimidation, so we have no room for complacency."
He went on: "these visitors are perfectly welcome — let's have as many eyes on how things are done."
But a source added "the whole thing is pretty bloody embarrassing and shows how bad things have got."
