Boston Globe endorses President Barack Obama for Harvard President
President Barack Obama is on the Boston Globe's shortlist for next president of Harvard University.
The Boston Globe is endorsing President Barack Obama to replace outgoing Harvard president Drew Faust, arguing that the common right-wing criticism that Obama is "too professorial" would be "a plus at Harvard."
After the current Harvard president Drew Faust announced Wednesday that she would step down on June 30, 2018. The Globe published today a short list of possible candidates to replace current Harvard president Drew Faust , and Barack Obama's name was along with six other candidates.
The paper noted Obama's alumnus status and his time heading the Harvard Law Review, and that a critique of Obama being "too professorial … might be a plus at Harvard."
The newspaper wrote "It's not leader of the free world — but heading one of the world's premier universities could hold lots of appeal."
Barack Obama graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991 and he taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years.
