A Ugandan woman was sentenced to three years' imprisonment by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court here today for offering sex services to a policeman.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som handed down the sentence on Husinah Namakula, 25, after the woman pleaded guilty to the charge.

She was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of her arrest on June 9 this year.

Husinah was charged with soliciting service for prostitution from one Corporal Rohaizad Yahya in front of a hotel at Jalan Changkat, Bukit Bintang at 5.55 am last June 9.

The charge, under Section 372 (B) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to a year, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

In mitigation, Husinah, who was unrepresented, said she was supporting her mother, who is sick in Uganda.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin prosecuted.
