{UAH} Bugand Prince Ssemakookiro Baptised, Ssangalyambogo Confirmed

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebis son, Richard Ssemakookiro, has this afternoon been baptized at a private ceremony at Namirembe Cathedral during which Princess Sarah Katrina Ssangalyambogo was confirmed.

The ceremony was presided over by bishop Kityo-Luwalira

The function was graced by Kabaka Mutebi, Royals, Religious leaders from different churches, Buganda ministers among others.

Ssemakokiro was born in July, 2011, and was surprise news to Ugandans. He is the 5th child of Kabaka Mutebi and 2nd boy in the family.

Kabaka's children are Prince Jjunju Suuna Kiweewa, Princess Joan Nassolo, Princess Victoria Nkinzi, Princess Sarah Katrina Sangalyambogo, and Ssemakokiro, most born by different mothers.

Semakokiro's Mother Rose Nansikombi, who was 24 then ,a daughter of elder Ssalongo George Edward Sserebe and Nnaalongo Christine Nalubanjwa, of Nswanta village, Bamunanika county in Luweero district, has still eluded the media's preyimg eye.

Nswanta is 20 miles away from Bamunanika where the Kabaka has a palace. When the then Katikkiro of Buganda, Eng. J.B Walusimbi announced the birth of Prince Ssemakookiro, he did not name the mother but only said she was from Nseenene (grasshopper clan). A picture was released showing a jovial Kabaka carrying the baby.

The prince was named Ssemakookiro like the Kabaka's great-grandfather Semakookiro Wasajja Nabbunga who was Buganda's 27th king. He reigned between 1797 and 1814 and remembered to have fought fierce wars that expanded Buganda's boundaries to the west.
