Up to 50 cases are listed for hearing. They include 17 cases of aggravated defilement and nine cases of rape.  These are only a small portion of the 249 cases that have been committed to high court according to Moroto Chief Magistrate Charles Yeteise.

He says that the cases, which date as far back as 2011, are recorded from all the seven districts of Karamoja. They include Moroto, Napak, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Amudat, Kotido, Abim and Kaabong.

Moroto District Chairperson Andrew Napaja Keem appealed for expeditious trial of suspects in custody adding that the delayed trial creates laxity especially among witnesses.
