Pastor Gilbert Arinaitwe arrested over rape
- Assistant Superintendent of Police Gilbert Arinaitwe Bwana, who was plunged in the limelight after he doused Dr Kizza Besigye with pepper that nearly blinded him at Mulago roundabout in Kampala during Walk-to-Work campaign in 2011, is custody suspected to have raped a school girl.-Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Arinaitwe on Friday after he allegedly raped a teenage girl in his vehicle at Nakawa, a Kampala suburb.he is said to have committed last week.
Mr. Asan Kasingye in a tweet, described the development as ' 'shocking and sad'' Early this year, Gilbert Bwana Arinaitwe started a church in Makindye Mubarak Zone. He has been preaching in police uniform with other police officers. He told his followers that God called him to serve.
In 2016, there were speculation on social media that suggested Bwana Gilbert had been admitted to Butabika Hospital, a facility that treats people with psychiatric illnesses and drug problems.
In April 2011 Mr Arinaitwe was reportedly suspended from the police, which triggered his financial strains that affected his life and family.
