News reaching us is that the man who transported Kaweesi killers on his bodaboda to his house after negotiating a deal with Wambewa kaweesi' driver has disappered from the cells under mysterious circumstances three days ago

Commonly known as 'Rastaman', the man in his early 30s was detained at a 'safe house' in Kyengera.

The residence in which Rastaman was detained was guarded by soldiers attached to Internal Security Organisation (ISO).

Christine Mbabazi Muhoza, the former girlfriend of Kaweesi, said she had been briefed about Rastaman's disappearance.

"Yes, it's true that man suddenly left the ISO house in Kyengera," said Mbabazi.

"What I don't understand is how he managed to escape from over 15 soldiers at that house. The operations at that place are commanded by Lt Juuko Sserwanga who could have aided his escape," she added.

Mbabazi recently said Rastaman was being used ISO to frame security officers in Kaweesi's murder.

"That Rastaman claimed that I had picked Shs 200m to facilitate the killing of Kaweesi. But he didn't even know how I looked like. He was always smoking marijuana and hoping to get a payoff for his lies," said Mbabazi.

Several officials say ISO believed Rastaman had compelling information that could see police chiefs incriminated in Kaweesi's assassination.

Police maintain Kaweesi was killed by suspected rebel ADF agents, some of whom are facing trial at Kampala High Court.

Mbabazi said she fears for her life since Rastaman could now be on the loose.

Asked how the new development would affect investigations into Kaweesi's murder, Mbabazi said: "We'll not get a chance to disprove his lies. Some people wanted to use him to create confusion. The opportunity of exposing him is no more unless he is rearrested."

Observers say ISO could be asked to explain the whereabouts of Rastaman.

Kaweesi was killed alongside his driver and bodyguard as they drove through Kulambiro in a drizzle on March 17.
