{UAH} UNTOLD SECRETS OF HOW GENERAL SALIM SALEH SAVED GASHUMBA

A CLOSES friend to Kampala's flamboyant businessman and political activist  Frank Gashumba has revealed secrets of how Museveni's brother Salim Saleh saved him from being charged in the court martial as UPDF's deputy publicity had previously warned.

While speaking to this website Gushumba's friend, who requested that we don't mention his name, told us that on Wednesday last week Gashumba's family members led by her sister a one Safinah secretly met Saleh and pleaded with him to assist them to speak to the CMI bosses so that they release their brothers(Frank Gashumba and Innocent Kasumba).General Saleh promised to have an answer for them by Friday when they meet him again. "I was with the relatives who went to plead with Saleh but that man is a good man. We had given up and were planning to get money to go to the constitutional court to challenge their being charged in the court martial. But he promised to help us and indeed he helped us without asking for any coin," Gashumba's friend noted

"On Saturday, Saleh talked to some CMI operatives and convinced them to release Gashumba and his brother unconditionally while they continue with the investigations. He told them that what they were doing was very ashaming to their commander in Chief. On Saturday evening, the CMI boss called Saleh and told him that the best thing they can do was to parade the suspects in a civil court instead of taking them to the court martial. They agreed to take all the suspects to Buganda road court and to convince the magistrate to grant them alienate bail," the friend further told the Grapevine.

The friend told us that Gashumba alias Frank Ssenyondo was being briefed on the every progress they were making with Saleh.

On Monday, Gashumba, His brother Franco Maligumu, Innocent Kasumba alias Simon Mutabaazi and Ismail Kiyimba who works with M.J Safaris as the tour and travel guide officer appeared before his worship James Ereemy Mawanda who released them on a non-cash bail of 20m each and each security also paid 20m non-cash. The Magistrate also didn't consider their identification like an identity card or passport.

However, speaking to the Grapevine, Gashumba's lawyer Denis Nyombi said that they didn't have Gashumba's identification because they were already confiscated by police. "You cannot receive bail without submitting those documents. But because police had confiscated them, the magistrate tasked us to present them during the next sitting which we will do," Nyombi clarified.

Funily, because Gashumba knew what was going on, he wrote a chit to one of his counsel Isaac Ssemakadde Kimeze tasking him to stop telling the magistrate about the way he was manhandled while being arrested and during detention in CMI cells lest he brings more problems. He even brags that the charges will not exceed two months. All the suspects where charged with 16 counts of forgery, impersonation etc
