{UAH} Archbishop Dr Cyprian Lwanga decries betrayal of MPs over age limit Bill

Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga the Archbishop of Kampala expressed discontent over the recent amendment of the Uganda constitution by   by Parliament.

The Catholic Archbishop of Kampala while delivering his Christmas and end of year message, Lwanga said  the amendments, which opens the way for those aged 18 years and above to contest for the presidency, were not done in good faith.

He said the nation wide consultations were done but there are still feelings of betrayal from the voters by their members of parliament as most ugandans feel betrayed by politicians who don't listen.

It is unfortunate that some section of  Members of Parliament didn't listen to advice from religious leaders and elders who requested them not to amend the Constitution, Added Dr Lwanga

He urged religious leaders who are concerned about the future of the country should call for a transparent democratic system because it is the foundation upon which citizens' rights are fully exercised.

Lwanga condemned the alleged misuse of the parliamentary chapel by security officers during the time when the age-limit bill was being debated. and also thanked those that stood by the words of their voters.
