Kayima says two suspects have since been arrested in connection to the murder after being found in possession of items which belonged to the deceased

City businessman Godfrey Kirumira's young brother Ivan Karungi Kirumira has been killed by unidentified assailants.

Karungi Kirumira was reportedly attacked in the wee hours of Sunday at his home in Kireka, a Kampala suburb along Jinja Road.

He has been working with Baggrey Trading Company, owned by his brother Godfrey Kirumira.

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima says the deceased was hit with a sharp object.

According to Kayima, two suspects whom he identified as Ivan Mukisa and Derrick Kateregga have since been arrested in connection to the murder after being found in possession of some items which belonged to the deceased.

"We suspect them to be having some good information about Karungi Kirumira killers, but investigations are still ongoing," Kayima said.

Annet Nakagimu, the deceased's daughter says her father returned home at around 2:00am and the assailants attacked him an hour later.   Nakagimu says the killers first locked her inside her bedroom before striking Kirumira.

Kirumira's death comes amidst increased cases of insecurity and murders of people by unknown assailants in various parts of the country.

Wakiso district and Entebbe Municipality were the most affected by the murders recently, with over 25 people, especially women killed brutally in the past few months

Early last month, Adam Mulongo a city lawyer was brutally killed by unknown thugs as he approached his home in Ntinda-Kigowa, Kampala.
