{UAH} Corruption leads to poverty.
Andrew Mwenda once said that corruption makes the country rich but its not true. Corruption leads to poverty. Poverty does not cause corruption. Many of those engaged in public fraud are not poor. They are legislators. They are judges. They are ministers. They are managing directors. For a developing country, ostensibly making corruption "public enemy number one" was a losing policy proposition and a distraction (because they weren't serious but it made great headlines). The goal should have been economic growth – it is fueled by job creation, investments in education, infrastructure, healthcare, food production. These will then address the cycle of poverty. Corruption as a vice saps our energies and redirect resources in a way that destroys our ability to tackle 'bread and butter' issues.
