Subject: Clarification on UNAA February Elections.

Dear UNAA members,

Hope you had a great weekend. I'm writing in response to questions some have raised regarding the conflicting messages that are being circulated on UNAA platforms about the February online elections.

I sincerely apologize for the circus atmosphere going on in our organization. As members who invest your time, energy and resources in the organization, you deserve better from our leaders. You deserve respect and a higher level of discipline, integrity and decorum in an organization that is supposed to represent Ugandans in the Diaspora.

When I filed a petition challenging the results of the Miami elections, the UNAA Board of trustees conducted an investigation and found that 357 members on the voter register had not paid their membership dues as required by the UNAA Constitution. Out of the 357 ineligible voters, 110 participated in the Miami elections. A ruling was made following these findings by the Board of trustees to have fresh elections.

Mr. Atigo and his executive team were asked to provide proof of missing membership funds for the 357 members they added to the voter register but to this day they have failed to offer an explanation or provide the missing funds. UNAA is missing $17,650 in membership revenue from this episode.

Mr. Mukunya the UNAA Executive Secretary disagreed with the ruling of the UNAA Board of trustees calling for new elections and as a result censored publication of statements from theTrustees and Chairman of the UNAA Electoral Commission pertaining to the February elections. That's the reason my campaign team has been forwarding some of these statements directly to the members instead of the UNAA Secretary. Mr. Mukunya and a select group of UNAA E.C members who are against holding by-elections are using UNAA's platform to send messages stating that there will be no election.

I have made a commitment throughout this process to abide by UNAA bylaws and follow the counsel of the UNAA Board of trustees. The UNAA Electoral Commission is in the process of organizing fresh elections and UNAA members will have a chance to cast their ballots on Feb 9th to 12th. The time is now for our community to rally together and restore UNAA into an organization that unites, values and responds to our community members.

UNAA is ready for a new agenda that will include adding value to our membership through group life insurance, emergency fund, investment opportunities, immigration legal representation, career guidance and a youth program among other avenues to empower Ugandans in the Diaspora. This election is about fundamentally changing our organization from a social conduit into an economic engine for our community. With your support we can together make it happen.

Wishing you all a great week. Remember to vote on Feb 9th to 12th. Your voice counts!

Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel Kawuma
Candidate for UNAA President.
