{UAH} Umeme blames power blackout on Kenya
Uganda's power distributor UMEME has spoken out on the massive power outage across most parts of the country.
"We are aware of the wide area outage affecting many areas," the distributor said in a tweet on Tuesday evening.
It added: "Our teams are currently working with The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) to establish the cause, resolve it and restore supply ASAP. Kindly bear with us."
The blackout has largely affected main towns including Kampala, Kabale, Entebbe, Mbarara and Jinja.
The outage was reportedly caused by a network interruption which Uganda electricity Generation Company limited blamed on Kenya.
The generation company was forced to disconnect Uganda from the Kenya grid and reconnect it independently.

In Kajjansi, Nakigalala line was facing a burning transformer.
This affected supply in Kawoto, Kajjansi Roses, Kiwamirembe shrine, Kajjansi Fisheries and areas around Uganda Clays playground.
