President Yoweri Museveni has said that he loves President Donald Trump because he speaks the truth.
The President said that Trump tells Africans that they are weak and unless they integrate  they will not be a force to reckon with in world affairs.
"L love Trump. He is frank he tells Africans the truth, unless he is misquoted," the President said adding that "In the world you can not survive if you are weak."
The President wondered why Africa was still weak when it is 12 times the size of India. "We need integration. and sharing common national resources," he said citing Lake Victoria which is shared by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania and said that even if Uganda preserves 500 meters on the shores for vegetation, if it is not done in Kenya and Tanzania, it would be meaningless.
He cited River Kagera, which, he said, that in the past, its water was blue, but now black and brown because of the soil erosion from Rwanda and Burundi and asked members of East Africa Legislative Assembly to pay it a visit and found a collective solution.
He warned in Luganda that "Ennyanja Nalubaale ejja kukalira," saying that unless the Eat Africa Community finds a solution for that. Lake Victoria will silted ant turn into a vegetation..
The President was opening the session of East Africa Legislative Assembly that will be held in Kampala. The opening ceremony was held at Parliament this afternoon, at a ceremony attended by Speaker of Parliament, Rebeca Alitwala Kadaga.
The President recalled the chance for East Africa Federation in 1965 that was published in Uganda Argus, the forerunner of New Vision, which was reproduced on last Christmas, and said that had it been realized by the late president; Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, Milton Obote of Uganda and Jomo Kenyatta of Kenya, the 1971 coup that brought Idi Amin to power would not have taken place, neither the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and the civil war in South Sudan.
He said that even Somalia had sent a Foreign Minister as an observer and wanted to join the federation. "We are operating in SOmalia but we are limited because of sovereignty," he said adding that RPF stopped genocide in Rwanda with secret help from him in Uganda because he had to be careful not to directly interfere in the internal affair of an independent country, it was the same with South Sudan.
The President cautioned the new EALA members against scrambling for positions but to represent their people. He was referring to a rivalry over the position of speaker, between one of the founder states of EAC and Rwanda-Burundi which were new.
He said that for the Africans to survive, they have to integrate for a market like Uganda with its maize that has been over produced yet Ugandans are not good eaters of maize other than soldiers and some other people, gets a market in hunger stricken countries in Horn of Africa talked about by Speaker Kadaga.
He also said that Ugandan milk producers also want a market and he recalled in 1950s and 1960s when Uganda and Kenya were good markets for Kenya's dairy products.
The president said that inter territorial and long distance trade from Zanzibar via Bagamoyo to Tabora to Karagwe, was not new and said that in Ntuusi in present day Ssembabule districts, in one of the royal enclosures of Bacwezi, glass beads were excavated, yet the enclosure existed in 900 a.d. and the beads had been made in Mesopotamia now present day Iraq.
The President said that integration is also for strategic and that is why Trump challenges Africans that they can become serious and unite.
Later the President inspected exhibition of parliament's directorates and departments as part of public week.
The third one was for sharing common resources.
The ordinary EALA session will resume Tuesday next week God willing, as this week, is public week where general public have access to parliament. Civil society dominated yesterday.
