Police arrest wrong man for Mowzey Radio 'murder'
- Written by URN
In a case of mistaken identity, police in Fort Portal arrested a man they suspected to have taken part in the murder of musician Moses Sekibogo alias Mowzey Radio.
Ivan Muhihi, a resident of Kireka in Kampala, hailing from Rukingiri district was arrested at 6.30am on Sunday at the Glue Pot bar in Fort Portal town according to Musa Tibakirana, the Kabarole district police commander.
Later released, Muhihi is a look-alike to the main suspect Godfrey Wamala, a bouncer at the De Bar in Entebbe from where Mowzey is said to have sustained head injuries that eventually led to his death.

Tibakirana explains that they received information from revellers at the bar that there was a bearded man who resembles Wamala, who is on police's wanted list over the death of Mowzey.
He says that police detectives were dispatched to the bar and arrested the man. He was then taken to Fort Portal police station and upon interrogation, it was established that police had arrested the wrong man.
Wamala is variously mentioned as having been involved in brawl with Mowzey on the night of January 22. The 33-year-old singer died on February 1 at Case hospital where he had been hospitalised after reportedly sustaining head injuries during the fight.
Wamala has since gone missing.
