Before the promulgation of the new constitution, taking another country's citizenship renders your Kenyan citizenship by birth null and void.

After the promulgation of the new constitution, a person regains his Kenyan citizenship by birth but only after applying afresh.

Miguna Miguna fled this country before the promulgation of the new constitution. He came back after he was accused of rape case at Canada and assumed that by virtue of birth ,he has his Kenyan citizenship. He didn't apply afresh as per the new constitution guidelines.

Now the Kenyan authorities will this evening deport him back to Canada to face rape charges. He will be denied entry into this country and won't get any citizenship in future simply because of the treason charges as per the constitution of Kenya
