Suspected military personnel have reportedly 'abducted' New Vision crime investigations journalist, Charels Etukuri.

According to the New Vision twitter account, Etukuri was 'abducted' from Vision Group head offices in Industrial Area today afternoon at around 2pm.

Details of his arrest are still scanty but sources say he was arrested on his way out of office by about five men, some dressed in military fatigue.

There was a mini-scuffle according to sources as Etukuri attempted to resist the 'abduction' but he was eventually overpowered and taken into a waiting Double Cabin vehicle Reg no. UAH 038A. According to sources, the car  had been parked near New Vision offices since 10am.

New Vision says it is suspected that the 'abduction' is related to some of his recent stories that he has authored. Etukuri said to be very close to police boss IGP Kale Kayihura.

It is alleged last Sunday's story, under the by-line Vision Reporter, titled Investor death: Finland ex-minister, ISO staff arrested is among the cause of Etukuri's troubles.

According to the story, six people were arrested over the death of Finish tycoon Tuomas Teräsvuor Juha Pateeri. The investor was found dead inside his room at the Pearl of Africa hotel.

According to the story among those arrested were two Internal Security Organisation (ISO) operatives, Teräsvuor's girlfriend Farida Nagayi and her brother Musa Didi. Also arrested was the former Finland Communications minister Suvi Liden who'd travelled with the deceased.

The story further indicated that investor may have been murdered in a weapons deal gone bad. Teräsvuor was the owner and chairman of TTCG Finland Limited, a security company. It is alleged that ISO operatives had demanded to be paid $50,000 if the deal succeeded.

On the day he met his death, Nagayi was booked into the same hotel room with Teräsvuor but CCTV footage indicates that she moved out at around 11.07pm and returned at around 1.10am.

Most New Vision staff that The Observer talked were unaware of the Etukuri's alleged abduction. Some were even in fact surprised by the news.
