William Ruto meets Nyeri county MPs as 2022 succession battle shapes up

- William Ruto is no doubt laying ground for his 2022 presidential bid where he will need support from the Kikuyu community

- Several political leaders from Central Kenya have been quoted telling Ruto that the region's support in 2022 is not automatic

- It could be for this reason that Ruto held a meeting with a host of MPs from Nyeri, Central political Kenya political

- Ruto has also been launching several development projects in the region in what pundits view as a way of endearing himself to the locals

- William Kabogo and Ngunjiru Wambugu are among politicians who have been vocal saying the Kikuyu vote will not be automatic

- In fact Ngunjiru Wambugu was missing from the meeting held at Ruto's Karen home A section of elected leaders from the populous Nyeri county have today February,20 paid a courtesy call to the deputy president William Ruto at his Karen home.

Conspicuously missing was the Nyeri Township new MP Ngunjiru Wambugu. As previously reported by Tuko.co.ke,this is now the fourth time Ruto is meeting leaders from both political divides in what looks likes like laying the ground for the 2022 General Election. "We must adopt a bipartisan, cohesive engagement with all elected leaders and align development objectives with the needs of each region. This is an imperative to achieving inclusivity, shared prosperity and ensure that together, we remain stronger", Ruto posted after the early morning meet.

Wambugu and the former Kiambu governorWilliam Kabogo have in the past said that the Kikuyu nation will not automatically support the deputy party leader's quest to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in the next General Election after the end of his second presidential term.

Kabogo in particular has taken issue with the way the deputy Jubilee party leader conducted party primaries that saw him lose to the current governor Ferdinand Waititu. He has in a number of occasions accused Ruto of stamping out the influential would-be challengers from the vote rich central Kenya.

The veteran Kiambu politician vowed to teach the presidential hopeful a political lesson come 2022. "I will be ready for Ruto in 2022, I am able and will not be silenced by anyone Ruto is destroying Uhuru's votes, voting for Waititu will be voting for Ruto," Kabogo had previously stated at a campaign rally in Ruiru. It could be for this reason that Ruto held a meeting with a host of MPs from Nyeri, Central political bedrockKenya's Ruto has also been launching several development projects in the region in what pundits view as a way of endearing himself to the locals.
