Fw: {UAH} Why the name: Kampala?

Go into Luganda I think you will get it there. It used to be a hunting ground for the Kabaka's meat! Rye/rie -empala (impala) and has a borrowing from Arabic and the rest could be from "sounds" conflicting.

Bogolobi (Bur golo pi) is originally a Luo voice sound but Bantu corrupted the sound! Just like "the great corner" in Nairobi our Kikuyu Bantu corrupted the voice sound to "Dagoreti Corner"; cricket stadium to "Kirigiti stadium"

Subject: {UAH} Why the name: Kampala?

That story is doubtful. Which hill in and around the Kampala City has
no name apart from the hill where Lugard stayed?

Study these chain of Hills and valleys – Nakivubo, Kibuli, Makerere
(Noise might replced original name), Katwe, Ndeeba, Makindye, Rubaga,
Mengo, Namirembe, Nakasero, Mulago, Wandegeya, Kololo , Lugogo,
Naguru, Nakawa, Bakuli, Kasubi Nabulagala

– how come that hill where Lugard stayed (Old Kampala) Baganda had no
name for the it
Kisenyi emerged when Somalis started staying there.
