Former Bubulo West MP Tony Kipoi Nsubuga has been remanded to Luzira prison by Nakawa Chief magistrates court on charges of attempting to traffic 20 people from Bukedea district to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kipoi has however denied the charges before chief magistrate Jamson Karemani and he was sent to Luzira until 16th March 2018, the date set for his bail application hearing.

Kipoi is jointly charged with two information Technology specialists; Silas Opejo and Patrick Engorit but the two men were not present in court and they were consequently issued with criminal summons.

Prosecution led by Ann Ntimba says the three accused allegedly committed the offences in April 2013 in the district of Bukedea.

On Saturday last week, Kipoi was extradited from  Botswana where he was arrested by the authorities after he fraudulently obtained money worth thousands of dollars while passing himself off as a witch doctor.

This is the second time the former legislator has been sent on remand at Luzira prison,  the first time being in 2010 when he was charged with Treason.

He was given bail over the treason charges by the High Court but he subsequently jumped bail and fled the country.
