A son of a Kenyan professor was on Sunday found dead in his apartment in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Thirty two-year-old Victor Odhiambo Ang'awa was found unresponsive in his living room when first responders arrived at the scene. He appeared to have collapsed on his couch.

Victor graduated with a Bachelors in Business from Cambridge College last year and had just finished his two months training as an investment analyst with Banco Santander.

He is the son of Professor Francis Ang'awa, a former Dean at Maseno University and now a senior administrator at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University.

Local reports said Victor's neighbors saw him around the compound about an hour before his death.

The cause of his death is yet to be established but police have commenced investigations.

'NOT DRUG RELATED'

Framingham Police Lt. Patricia Grigas said the death is "not suspicious" and "not drug-related" either.

"The landlord who lives in the same building received a call from Victor earlier in the morning to come and fix a heat issue in the apartment. He found Victor sitting on his couch and asked him how he was doing, to which Victor responded "I am Ok," said Dr Washingtone Ochieng, a Harvard University Scholar and brother-in-law to the late Ang'awa, who was quoted by Ajabu Africa News.

"The landlord came back later to check on him and found him lying on the floor dead. The landlord then called 911 emergency responders who tried in vain to resuscitate him."

The landlord said he thought the Kenyan looked rather unusual on that day, but decided not to press him further.

Family and friends have described Victor as a happy man who loved making friends and sporting events.

A Memorial-Thanksgiving-Fundraising Service is scheduled for March 11.

His body will be repatriated to his father's home in Bondo, Siaya county.
