{UAH} Gook, Ocen/Tororo residents boycott LC1, women council polls

Folks;

President Museveni's never-ending promises are catching up with him.

For over 20 years now, the president has regularly promised to settle the dispute between my people, the Jopadhola and our neighbors, the Itesots over the mother district of Tororo.

This dispute stems from demands by the Itesots to curve own district, with the township as their headquarters. The Jopadhola maintain that Tororo Municipality is part and parcel of West Budama, and must remain with them.

Seems every electoral cycle, this district dispute becomes a winning campaign platform for all candidates whose voters are directly impacted by the matter.

Each time, the president feigns interest and promises to resolve the dispute once elections are over. However, predictably, he vanishes in thin air after the votes are counted, and lets the emotions to cool off.

Today's decision to boycott local elections, until the president fulfills his promise, is the latest evidence that this dispute should not, and can not, be put in the back burner any longer.

I wish the rest of the country could hold the president to account for his chain of unfulfilled promises!

Pojim
