KAKWANO VERSUS KAIJUKA
The infighting going on at Uganda Investment Authority reminds me the
fight we had in early nineties between Earnest Kakwano and the then
Commerce Minister Richard Kaijuka.
A young Kaijuka, just like a young Yoweri Museveni, was a UPC youth
winger, and after 1971 25th January coup that brought Idi AMin to
power, it was Kaijuka who provided Yoweri Museveni money to transport
his FRONASA recruits; Abbaas Kibazo, Ahmed Seguya, Haruna Kibuye
Zubairi Bakari, all now dead, to Tanzania where they started
clandistine activities against the new military regime.
Kakwano features in the liberation struggle against Obote ll regime
and when he was prosecuted, historicals like Rugakanda Rugunda went
and stood as his sureties and he was released on court bond.
However, given the fact that Kaijuka was Kakwano;s boss, the latter
had to go although both are now out of government.
