72 Rwandese arrested for Scavenging in Uganda.

The Police in Kabale in conjunction with the Immigration Police have arrested and detained 46 Rwandan Nationals who were found in Kabale town without proper travel documents.

Kigezi Region police spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the arrest saying that the foreigners were arrested at Horizon and Kalita bus terminals in Kabale as they headed to Tooro and Bunyoro to work in Tea plantations.

Maate told journalists that 72 people who included women and children were earlier rounded up but 36 women and children were released and handed over back to Rwanda author cities.

He said that the Rwandans had used ungazzated routes to enter Uganda and on reaching Kabale to board the buses the intelligence were tipped and they were picked by Police.

He said that the 46 men will appear in court to answer charges of entering Uganda without using lawful entry points.

Matte said that although Uganda as part of East African Community allows free cross border movement, a person moving from one country to another should use gazated entry points with proper documents so that in case of a problem can be helped.
