It has just been announced here that the UK government will not oppose the handover of the Beatles gang to the USA for trial for the terrorist crimes they committed as executioners of Isis.
Alexander Kotey and El Shafee Elsheik are British born Islamists, who along with Canadian born Jihadi Jack, formed a team of executioners for Isis and posted gruesome videos of beheadings of western journalists they captured in Iraq and Syria. They are believed to have executed 27 hostages.
The gang were captured by Kurdish fighters late last year and there has since been a diplomatic standoff between the USA, the UK and Canada as to what to do with them.
The USA want the trio to be handed over to them to be tried for the beheadings of three American citizens. Canada opposes handing over of their citizen Jihadi john to the Americans because of the death penalty which it opposes.
The Uk has already stripped Kotey and Elsheik of their British citizenship. But in an unprecedented move, the UK now says it will not oppose the transfer of the two to Guantanamo Bay facility and will also not seek any assurances about the death penalty from the USA- meaning that it has completely washed its hands off these former uk citizens and the USA can do what it wants with them.
The fate of jihadi john is not known, but it seems Mr Justin Trudeau is still opposed to his transfer to the USA and wants him to be tried in Canada instead, something the USA is totally opposed to because the Canadian judiciary is seen as very soft and even sympathetic to terrorists as demonstrated recently when it awarded $10 million to an afghan killer called Omar who murdered 4 American soldiers.
