Gunmen kidnap eight Fako chiefs

At least eight traditional rulers of the Fako Division in the South West Region of Cameroon have beeen reportedly kidnapped by suspected armed separatists.

It is still not clear why these chiefs have been kidnapped but most of them were picked up from their homes in separate incidents last week and taken to unknown destinations.

One of the  chiefs HRH Chief Johnson Njombe Njoke, who was abducted on Thursday July 12, appeared in a video that has gone viral on social media calling of the government to call off the Presidential election until the Anglophone crisis is solved.

"We think that the election now is not necessary. To me, it is premature because you cannot come to your house, the tap is bad, there is water all over your house and you start cleaning the carpet without first stopping the flow of water from the tap. So that election is uncalled for. The Ambazonia problem should first be resolved before they can think of any election, " Chief Njombe who is equalluy a councillor at the Buea Council said.

The eight chiefs that have been kidnapped, all from Buea, are: Chief Njombe Johnson of Wokaka, Philip Mokwa of Wokeka, Elinge Ndoto of Ewili,  Herman Njumbe of Wokwei, Francis Molinga of Liwuh la Malale, Lieti Woloko of Woteva, Chief Mbanda of Lysoka and Chief Lieti Woloko of Woteva.
