{UAH} Iranian teen detained over Instagram dance videos

Afuwa Kasule/ Mayimuna/ Semuwemba/ Kateregga/ Edward Mo irundrua/ Rajab Ali,

Have a look at a dance video released on social media by this Iranian teenager Maedeh Hojabri.. It is in the link below, and you will see the sheer joy, exhilaration  and happiness that dancing gives this young girl. For her troubles, she has now been arrested and thrown into a notorious jail for sex offenders.

The question I ask is:  Why does the Koran criminalise music and dance? Why is  happiness so offensive to Islam- so that it bans anything that may bring good cheer and joy? Dance in particular has so many qualities- both physical and therapeutic and I dont think it is right that any religion should order people not to dance. No one has a right to tell people what their passions are, nor dictate or decree  to them how they should partake of, or enjoy it.

Please join the campaign   to get this teenager freed immediately. The Mullah's fascist  clerical regime has now gone too far in stifling civil liberties and basic human rights. You must join us in reminding them this is the 21st century. We are no longer living in the medieval  or dark ages..They must stop this cruel nonsense immediately,

FREE MAEDEH HOJABRI NOW.

Tehran - Iran has detained a teenager who posted dance videos on Instagram and attracted tens of thousands of followers.

State TV broadcast a video on Friday in which Maedeh Hojabri, 18, acknowledged breaking moral norms while insisting that was not her intention. It was unclear whether her statement was made under duress.

She had posted around 300 videos on her account, many of which showed her dancing. She also appeared in videos without wearing the obligatory Islamic headscarf. She had some 43,000 followers.

Iranian police have said they plan to shut down similar accounts on Instagram, and the judiciary is considering blocking access to the site. Iran already blocks Facebook, Twitter and other social media, though many Iranians access them through proxies and VPNs.
