A family in Bungoma has asked the government to help them ferry home the remains of their daughter so she can be accorded a decent burial.

The family which hails from Khachonge village, Kabuchai constituency, claim their daughter, Marion Mary Machuma, was killed by her employer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where she worked as a house help.

The deceased woman's father, Peter Wanyonyi, and her mother Gertrude Nafula claimed the murder of their daughter who was the sole breadwinner had left them helpless.
"Let the truth be told to us, why kill an innocent worker, she was only working a house help why clobber her to death? Let the Kenyan embassy investigate (the death) and tell us the truth, let the government help us ferry the body home so that she can be accorded a decent burial," said Wanyonyi.
Her mother narrated to TUKO.co.ke how her daughter had cheerfully left the country for Middle East in search of employment so she could save enough money to enable her pursue college eduction when she returned back home.

"I'm lost for words, let the embassy investigate what led to her killing, my daughter was a very respectful person. I don't understand how all this took place, let the government help us get back home her body. I'm disturbed and grieving," Nafula said.
Information gathered by TUKO.co.ke indicated the deceased was murdered by her employer on July 17, 2018. The employer is alleged to have later called the police claiming the maid had jumped from a storey house.

"What we want is the assistance from the Kenyan government to bring back home our daughter for a decent burial. All this drama won't help us now.The Dubai government should also compensate us, we will pursue the cause of her death up to the bitter end," said the mother.
Reports indicated the medics who examined the woman's body at the scene of the incident said there were signs of torture as she had bruises on her head.

The Director of Crime at Dubai Police, Colonel Ahmed Al Marri, said the body was taken to forensic lab for an analysis where it was found with severe injuries with some of them occurring before her death.

Neighbors who were interrogated by police said they heard screams from the suspect's home before the police showed up.

Police said the suspect's husband had erroneously sent a text message to the victim's friend saying,
"I warned her not to hit the maid and now she is involved in a murder case."
The suspect is reported to have admitted to hitting her after she was confronted by police officers.
