William Ruto's Weston hotel is built on public land, should be demolished - Economist David Ndii Author: Jacob Onyango Updated: 3 hours ago Views: 11735 Category: Local News

- Ndii said Uhuru should demolish Weston Hotel and lose Ruto as one of his remaining close friends
- The economist suggested Uhuru should then proceed to turn in himself, insinuating the president is also guilty of impunity
- Uhuru disclosed he had lost many friends because of the ongoing demolitions and anti-graft war
- The president however insisted war on graft and crackdown on illegal properties erected on wetlands would not stop

Firebrand economist David Ndii has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to order for demolition of Deputy President William Ruto's Weston Hotel in Nairobi claiming the property is built on a public land.

The top National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition strategist also suggested the president should lose Ruto as his friend then turn in himself, implying that both Uhuru and the DP were as guilty of impunity as those whose properties were being targeted for demolition.

Ndii alleged Ruto irregularly acquired public land on which he built Weston Hotel and therefore the president should remove him in his list of remaining friends.
"This is public land. One more friend you need to lose. And once you are done with him, turn yourself in," he tweeted in reference to an investigative report published earlier by one of the local dailies.

The national government in collaboration with the country government of Nairobi embarked on a demolition spree targeting buildings allegedly erected on wetlands including Ukay Centre and Southend Mall.

Uhuru on August 12 reiterated the demolition exercise would not spare anyone, regardless of who they were in the society. "No matter how much money you have, no matter how many people in high offices you know, we will not be prevented from achieving our dreams because of impunity," he warned.

The president also disclosed he had lost many friends as a result of the ongoing war against graft but insisted impunity must end even if it would cost him all his friends.
"I have lost many friends. Many have called me asking 'how can you be watching when all the destruction is going on?' I say a time has come to fight impunity. Let us lose our friends and do what is right in the eyes of God. Let us create a society that respects and treasures hard work and integrity, a nation with a conscience," he said.
