Bobi Wine Charged With Treason, Illegal Possession Of Fire Arms

Police has charged Kyadondo East MP and musician Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine with three counts, including treason, after Monday's election violence in which his driver Yasin Kawuma was shot dead.

Police in Arua has also preferred charges of malicious damage over his supporters' attack on President Yoweri Museveni's motorcade in which a luggage vehicle was hit.

Bobi Wine has also been charged with unlawful possession of fire arms.

On Wednesday, Arua police paraded weapons they claimed were recovered from Bobi Wine's hotel room at Pacific Hotel on Monday and Tuesday when searches were conducted.

They included sub machine guns Registration Numbers 01-UE0471-1998 and 02-56-4301247.

More items recovered from Bobi Wine's hotel room included:

Police also claims Bobi Wine had 16 and 19 rounds of ammunition for the two fire arms respectively.

More items discovered included:

• Garmini GPS locator
• suitcases
• 15 phones including 10 smart phones
• six red T-shirts written on "peoples powe and "this tax must go" slogans
• A tin of capsule drugs
• red caps
• three national flags
• a red jacket
• a red trouser

Police has registered Bobi Wine's case under  CRB:3444/2018.

Regional police spokesperson Josephine Angucia said investigations into Bobi Wine's case were still ongoing.
