{UAH} MASAKA MARRIAGE

Frank Mujabi,

Another of my boys back home got married in Buganda again last weekend- this time in MASAKA. I think when  I return to Uganda, Luganda may be the spoken lingua franca  in our home, replacing Itesot. Most of the wives in my large family are from Teso, but Buganda is soon overtaking !!! I am trying to count, I think there are now 39 languages spoken by the progeny of my late father ( 250 grand, great grand, great-great grand kids). I dont think he could have imagined his flock  speaking languages such as Tagalog, Twi, French, Somali, Spanish,  Nyarwanda or even Luganda. A very fluent Luganda speaker himself, but he never allowed us to learn any other Ugandan language. To him English was the be all and the end all of communication- he worshipped English.

But that kanzu of  my nephew is in a class of its own.
