NEW LOP TAKES OVER

The new Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Ocan, has taken over without resistance. The Government side has been very happy with her appointment. The Opposition is not.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, Leader of Opposition in Parliament, is elected from the leading Opposition political party, but not appointed.

After the Denis Mbidde case, where the Court ruled that an election is a process where there shall be nomination and election by Parliament, acting as an electoral college, if one petitions the Constitutional Court, the appointment of the LOP shall be nullified and it will set precedent for future.
