FDC STANDOFF: Winnie Kiiza, 28MPs to Make Grand Announcement
The Forum for Democratic Change Members of Parliament opposed to party President Patrick Amuriat's style of leadership met at Fang Fang Hotel in Kampala on Tuesday evening.
The significant majority of legislators from the official opposition party led by the outgoing Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza converged to brainstorm on their next move, in the absence of agreement between them and Najjankumbi.
Sources who attended the meeting told ChimpReports that the resolutions of the meeting are going to be announced at the office of LOP at Parliament.
"We have made decisions and at midday, all Ugandans yearning for meaningful and honest democracy will get to know our next move," a source said.
This website understands the meeting which started at around 6:30 lasted about 6 hours.
The Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, who is currently steering Parliament, is expected to formally inform the house about the change of leadership in opposition, today during plenary sitting.
Amuriat on Friday last week fired Winnie Kiiza and replaced her with the soft spoken Gulu woman Member of Parliament, Betty Aol Ochan.
Others that were also dropped, in a move seen by observers as revenge against the former president Mugisha Muntu's camp, are Commissioner of Parliament Cecilia Ogwal of Dokolo who was replaced by Buhweju county's Francis Mwijukye; and Chairperson of Committee on Commissions Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises, Abdu Katuntu who replaced by theatric Kawempe South MP, Mubarak Munyagwa.
