{UAH} REMEMBERING ISRAA AL-GHOMGHAM, RIP. Beheaded by Saudi Authorities on 20 August 2018.
Mayimuna/ Afuwa/ Ikanos/ Annete Kobu,
We tried but failed to save the life of human rights activist Israa al-Ghomgham. Israa was executed by the Saudi barbarians on 20 August 2018. She was publicly beheaded by sword in a public square.
Israa had become prominent in the campaign to allow Saudi women to drive cars. She also led the campaign to abolish the Islamic guardianship law which bans women from working or going to any public place without the permission of a male- usually her father, husband or brother.
Israa was dragged before a kangaroo Sharia Court where she was charged with, and convicted of, insulting the Koran. She was sentenced to death. All appeals for clemency were rejected by the Saudi authorities. The Saudi authorities bussed in hundreds of women to watch the execution as a warning to any who might want to follow Israa's example and agitate for equality for women and an end to their enslavement.
Millions of women, from all walks of life, joined in our campaign to save Israa. These ranged from feminists, to Black Lives Matter in America, to women belonging to democratic and socialist organisations, from all continents of the world.
Israa may be dead, but the hopes and aspirations she had for Saudi women, her determination to end their oppression and enslavement, and willingness to sacrifice her own life, even as she could have escaped to exile, will resonate with women and all freedom loving people across the globe. The indomitable will she showed, to stand up to barbarians, will remain a shining light to oppressed women all over the world.
I would like to thank Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland for joining hands with us in our campaign to save Israa al-Ghomgham's life. We in the human rights community salute their courageous decision to stand up to barbaric muslim monsters, even at a great cost to their own country and its dozing citizens.
REAT IN PEACE ISRAA AL-GHOMGHAM. YOU WILL FOREVER BE REMEMBERED AS A BEACON OF HOPE. MAY YOUR SACRIFICE NOT BE IN VAIN. ONE DAY THE SAUDI WOMEN WILL BE FREE.
Bobby
