{UAH} Violence against the President is as bad as violence against the opposition

The recent events in Arua in which some opposition actors took
their democratic rights to the extreme by attacking the presidential
convoy are very regrettable and must be condemned by all
right thinking Ugandans.

In the same vein, I also condemn the torture of opposition
legislators for inciting or failing to control their supporters leading
to the attack on the presidential convoy. The security forces should have
handled the situation better rather than resorting to torture of the suspects.

I am also concerned that apologists of the attackers of the convoy have
instead turned the principal victim of the Arua violence, President Museveni,
the villain while the inciters of the attacks are being presented to us as innocent
victims of the state.,They are even viewed as democracy fighters etc!!!

Attacking a presidential convoy anywhere in the world is a very serious matter
and more so in Africa. So we must commend the security forces for holding the
fire during the incident otherwise we would now be counting very many dead and
wounded.

All said and done, political violence is bad for our country and all Ugandans must
learn to respect each other views. Political battle must be fought using ballots and not
stones and bullets.

From what I have seen, even those who directed violence at the head of state,
apparently do not want violence to be visited on them! This should then brings us to a
general consensus that violence is bad for all.
