{UAH} Bobi Wine continues to conquer and to impress the whole world!

L/R : Bobi Wine, Dr Shaka Ssali, Ambassador Katende

Very many of us watched live that interview invloving the participation of those three personalities on the picture. And, of course, millions of others are now still following the event as recorded on all types of social media. The show was excellent and there was a great winner : Bobi Wine! And of course where there is a winner there is a loser, this time an inadvertent loser who definitely knew what to answer had the questions been put to him privately and in full privacy, that's Ambassador Katende! On answering on behalf of a quasi failed regime that has now lost very much of its credibility Ambassador Katende found himself miserably trapped in snares which made him look out of place and out of logic. He was almost throughout condemned to naively share that NRM reasoning which can't go beyond anything Museveni, be it on security, human rights, age limits, political uncertainty , etc. Anyway his bosses will be proud of him because he tried to defend their line. But to most viewers eminent political philosopher Norbert Mao's asserted adage ( showing how  an intelligent man can turn into a fool thru payment ) which Bobi Wine so elegantly quoted on two occasions showed the miserable situation Katende had been forced to land into especially when he tried to deny the very obvious torture inflicted on Bobi Wine and group.
This debate together with other interviews on leading world medias including BBC, Skynews, Al Jazeera, CNN, VOA, RFI, DW News, etc.. hoisted Bobi Wine to full intellectual prominence as a young Kennedysque / Macron politician trying to pull a lame country out of a real political ghetto.! Throughout these shows, debates, interviews, Bobi Wine has been speaking full sense as a real statesman capable of doing much for his country. Shamefully, on the opposite side, we have a 74-year-old typical village boss still up to now talking the language of threats and intimidation, sometimes filled with anger at any turn of event that doesn't go with his liking. The world has made its assessment and the general feeling in many top circles of influence is to help Bobi Wine and team to forge a new leadership for the country as Museveni is likely to lose the next election where, according to several analysts, the question of age in a young Ugandan electorate  will be an obvious determinant!
There is an impression that this new leadership would be tolerant and give a safe landing to Museveni who really needs to move away peacefully. All this explains how change is very necessary for the country. Uganda has of late been so much criticized on  the way things work with this regime! One very serious publication qualified the actual Kampala regime as old and in desperate straits more committed to perpetuating its grip on power and to exploiting  the riches of the country rather than on minding unemployment, poverty, and corruption. The publication further affirms how the regime is governing without a clear vision! Other publications have even gone to the extent of showing how Bobi Wine is a real threat to Museveni, in fact the greatest challenge Museveni has ever faced! They see in Bobi Wine that kind of a hurdle Museveni could never succeed to clear! Why? One publication tries to give the answer by showing how Bobi Wine has very tremendously succeeded to exploit the full network of social media where he stages his family life. This is said to be the thing which has attracted to his political message the millions of people who are fondly mad of him! Not only in Uganda but also all over the world! Protests in his favour from the whole planet were a testimony to the greatness of his message! Africa alone provided support from practically every country. And the sympathy he enlisted from Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa ( serious African countries looked at with deep global respect ) was an added advantage to Bobi Wine's international repute. In came lots of brilliant international stars pleading for his release and for his treatment in an international hospital. The petition signed in his favour by world stars and sportsmen had such prestigious signatures of  legendary Wole Soyinka, Benin's celebrated Angelique Kidjo
( a very popularly respected artist all over Europe), USA's Chris Martin of the Cold Play World Centre, Kikki Steiner of the Afrobeat programme, and Nigeria's Femi Kuti. These brains were to lead that petition which gave further weight to the world protest movement, whose impact , according to some of the press, resulted in the summoning of the High Court session in Gulu and the eventual release (on bail) of Bobi Wine and colleagues. A further global action, this time by European governments, forced the regime to unconditionally allow both Bobi Wine and Francis Zaake to fly abroad for better medical treatment!!  World protest has in all ways helped to further catapult Bobi Wine to international stardom!
Bobi Wine's political effort and the sense to see vision at a right time are also among the things which now contribute to his celebrity. He has very wisely played an important political card on Uganda's political scene, that's his approach and due respect towards the Hon Mr Norbert Mao, the respected President General of  Uganda's very prestigious  Democratic Party. This good attitude has helped Bobi Wine to harvest a number of good points both locally and regionally. Regionally because there are numbers, especially in the academic world, who appreciate Norbert Mao in a number of things. I saw this at a Pan-Africanist regional forum I attended three years ago in Nairobi, and Mao was there as an officially invited participant. He impressed scholars, professors and intellectuals in attendance, in his analysis on various situations. He was cheered many times and many of these scholars eagerly established contact with him, some even taking him for the fount of  all knowledge. And now these same people are showing open support for Bobi Wine in the knowledge that he's on good terms with that intelligent Mao who so strongly impressed them. So it hasn't come as a surprise to see Bobi Wine enjoying the support of the academia from Profs in Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Djibouti and Sudan. A good diplomatic card can fetch awards and blessings!! We all saw how the international press singled out Kenya's support to Bobi Wine. And Kenya means a lot to the region and to the international community whose news media has come out very strongly to back Bobi Wine!!
Museveni and NRM cadres now in panic have only got to utter threats here and there. The press conference Museveni held at State House and warned foreign countries to stop interfering in Uganda's internal affairs was something which has garnered only criticism!
To defend the people from aggression, torture, murder, killings by assassins disguised as bodaboda cyclists is a universal duty where the whole world has to decide and act. People can't simply die like that and the world displays total indifference! It's for this reason that the world is now coming to the defence of the oppressed Ugandans and has started to act! Really I can't see the European Union with the leadership of such intelligent people as France's Macron sitting in silence. They will indeed act. And there is noise about compiling a catalogue of killers and their victims and have everything forwarded for stiff action. Definitely the good elements, even in the army and the police, will help in the exercice. European authorities really want to know the persons who carry out the killings and the names of the authors of those murders. Other powers like the USA, Canada, Japan, and many Third World countries will also act!! Violence wherever it is has to be condemned and its authors have to be punished! And they will be punished! Ugandans don't believe in violence! They have further discarded all thought of the gun. Theirs is a respected society where the use of the gun is seen as something recalling backwardness and senseless primitivity idolized by savages! The gun has lost full meaning in  the Ugandan society and will never achieve anything substantial, not even politically!  Action on human rights violation
in Uganda will also help the international community scope other related political evils such as the cheating in elections! Bad elections have always been the cause of Uganda's suffering!! All in all, these errors attributable to Museveni himself have been so cleverly exploited by Bobi Wine's intellectual political machinery and they have now created that situation which clearly sees Bobi Wine as a national redeemer!!
The Bobi Wine effect is being felt strongly present everywhere in all corners of the globe. The Ugandan diaspora has championed many of its causes including offering open support. And a lot of thanks must go to those in the diaspora who have ventured into risky waters in order to come to Bobi Wine's defence and to that of all his colleagues, including the still unconscious  Francis Zaake,  who have shared a similar agony. Diaspora is a very integral part of the global Ugandan community , and we share the same suffering with our fellow citizens in the country, in particular in these very difficult moments. Diaspora will never abandon the people at home and is further resolved to act in concert with them in whatever regards any cause connected to Bobi Wine. Many of us feel concerned with what is going on back at home. Suffering at home affects us in many ways and we have a right and a duty to see that things one day return to normal and take to the exact direction Ugandans want to see their country move in..
Uganda is a blessed nation which Providence will never let down! And judging by the current political trends, characterized to a great extent by the involvement of the international community, the anticipated path to change is surely looming on the horizon and Bobi Wine's vastly acquired international support won't be absent from its realization!
G.H.K.
