{UAH} The corrupt Oyite Ojok??
According to Andrew Karamagi in his book, "Kiiza Besigye And Uganda's unfinished Revolution", Major General Oyite Ojok was corrupt. Apparently, he used his position in the Millitary Commission to accumulate a lot of wealth, and this reportedly continued after he was appointed chairman of the Coffee Marketing Board.
On a personal note, I'm a bit of a paradox.I have a problem with this narrative especially considering that I've grown-up in Museveni era where the corrupt putatively own big mansions, have fat bank accounts, and they tend to be fat themselves. Oyite Ojok, on the otherhand, not only maintained his slim body, there has never been a building or any property attributed to him as owner, or former owner. It reminds me of the stories I used to hear about Obote in the 1990s, that he owned a bicycle factory in Zambia, yet the guy was actually suffering and living on scraps while in exile. The Obote family owned a simple restaurant and lived on state hand outs.
I believe this debate would be more enriched by looking at the corruption now under M7 and Obote's. Just sit back and think about it for a minute.
