Edward Sebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe, the bodyguard of Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, has finally gained freedom after Gulu High Court granting him bail.

The accused were charged with treason before the Grade One Magistrate Yunus Ndiwalana on September 11 in Gulu town over alleged stoning of president Museveni car in Arua.

After 52 days of detention, Eddie Mutwe and his co-accused Musa Ssenyange appeared before the court on Tuesday, presided over by Justice Stephen Mubiru for hearing of their bail application.

Eddie Mutwe and Ssenyange, a driver and machine operator, were on September 11 prosecuted before Gulu Grade One Magistrate, Yunus Ndiwalana, and charged with treason.

They were charged just hours after the High Court in Kampala ordered for their unconditional release because they were being held illegally following their arrest on August 25.

According to Kfm, the accused were represented by their lawyers Bugiri Municipality MP Assuman Basalirwa, Henry Kilama and TonnyKitarra.

In their bail application the lawyers contends that it was a constitutional right for the accused to be granted bail as enshrined in Article 23 (6) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

They also contend that the accused were tortured while in military detention, denied proper medical attention and needed to seek private medical checkups.

Mr Mutwe was arrested by security personnel on August 25 from Semakokiro Plaza in Kamwokya Kampala and detained at Chieftaincy of Military Investigation [CMI] headquarters in Mbuya.

The state contends that the two and others used a grader to block President Museveni's convoy in Arua Municipality on August 13.

The case is rescheduled for further mentioning on December 3 where the accused will reappear before the Chief Magistrate Court with 33 others.
