DEATH
KAMPALA - Former Attorney General Peter Nyombi has died at the age of 64, according to reports.
For now, details about his death are scant. But New Vision has learnt that he had hypertension and succumbed to heart failure at a clinic in Kampala Sunday evening.
A father of four, the fallen lawyer was the brother of Prof. John Musisi Senyonyi, the vice-chancellor of Uganda Christian University (UCU), and Ambassador Henry Mayega.
Having replaced Kiddu Makubuya, Nyombi served as Government's main legal advisor for nearly four years, from May 2011 until March 2015.
A cabinet reshuffle saw him replaced by Fred Ruhindi, who would also be dropped a year later to give way for William Byaruhanga, the current Attorney General.
Nyombi also served as MP for then-'Buruuli County' in Nakasongola district, central Uganda.

Nyombi was born to a teacher (Eriakimu Kajja) and a housewife on April 23, 1954.
He went to Nakasongola Primary School and then King's College Budo for his secondary education.
His academics further saw him study law at Makerere University and graduate in 1976 with a Bachelor of Laws degree.
The following year, Nyombi received a diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC).
For almost a decade since that time, Nyombi served as state attorney in the justice ministry's department of public prosecution.
From 1986 until 1996, he worked as counsel in the Inspectorate of Government, after which he served as the director of legal affairs in the same office until 2001.
At a time of general elections, Nyombi joined Parliament after being elected as 'Buruuli County' representative.
In 2011, he was appointed Attorney General, a position he served in until 2015.
