Kagame senior spy arrested.

Police in hoima on Wednesday arrested and detained a prominent Rwanda national on allegations of illegal entry into the country sparking diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

The suspect was arrested from Runga landing site, Kibiro parish Kigorobya sub county in hoima district by detectives from hoima and is currently being held at Hoima Central Police Station.

The suspects only identified as Abishuti Alex has been carrying out fishing activities at Runga landing sites and is a prominent businessman in the area owning several buildings and a nightclub.

He was also a chairman of Rwanda nationals and Bafumbira tribe in Hoima district and has lived in the country for more than ten years.

Police in hoima confirmed the arrests adding that he would be charged once the investigation into the matter is complete.

A source within the police who preferred not to be named said Mr. Abishuti is also being investigated for spying on Uganda government to Rwanda government.

"He is suspected to be a senior spy who has been working for foreign country," the source further added.

Runga village LC 1 chairperson Mr Opio Gilbert confirmed the arrests but added that he could not comment further on matter in order to enable smooth investigations into the allegations against him. He however, called on police to carryout speedy investigation for justice to prevails

He is the latest Rwanda national to arrested in Uganda in the recent past following the recent wave of arrests and deportation of several Rwanda nationals who were arrested and deported on allegations of illegal entry.

Rwanda government has in the past accused and warned the Uganda government in a guise of mistreating its citizens living in Uganda with Defense minister warning Rwanda nationals against scavenging in Uganda.

There has been rumours that Rwanda government has been behind the recent brutal assassinations that shook the country but the Kigali government denied the allegations.
