{UAH} LEAH SHARIBU: INTERNATIONAL GIRL OF THE YEAR

Did you know today is INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL?

Meet Your 2018 INTERNATIONAL GIRL OF THE YEAR:  LEAH SHARIBU

Leah Sharibu has been chosen amongst millions of other deserving girls for her supreme acts of courage, endurance and hope in the midst of the greatest tragedy a child could ever face. Leah is living proof that even in adversity, good will triumph over evil. We salute Leah Sharibu for the compassion, love and sacrifice she made so that some of her fellow captives could escape from the muslim captors, and for the fortitude with which she has borne and continues to bear her suffering, without showing any bitterness, anger or hatred  towards her  captors and  oppressors or the religion that inspires them and for which they claim to work..

On International Girl Day, no girl deserves recognition today more than Leah Sharibu.

- while others fled a terror attack on her school, she refused to abandon her sick classmate whom she was tending to and was captured

- surrounded by armed terrorist killers in an evil forest island, she refused to deny her faith

- Even though she knew as a Christian she was at greater risk, she led two of of her Muslim classmates in a daring escape that lasted 3 days until she was betrayed by Herdsmen and returned to her Boko Haram captors

- Due to her refusal to convert to Islam she was separated from her classmates and kept with hostage aid workers one of whom was subsequently executed

- she was offered an opportunity to leave the terror island along with her Muslim classmates if she renounced her faith but she denied

- she was asked to make a proof of life plea for herself but she went ahead to ask the world to look after her family

- she is a star student academically and a talented individual who acted in plays and choreography for the benefit of her community

- Today Leah has touched the world with her tenacity, principle and courage that defied the worst evil on the planet.

- Leah achieved all this at age 14 and only turned 15 in the terrorist's enclave

For these and more reasons, Leah Sharibu is declared the International Girl of 2018!
