{UAH} Ocen, Allan// More Thoughts on Jamal Khashoggi

Folks;

Slowly but finally, the Saudi Kingdom has admitted the obvious; that they killed Jamal Khashoggi.

Now, the Saudi have two more questions to answer: First, where is Khashoggi's body?

And secondly, what will happen to his murderers? In their statement admitting that murder, the Kingdom said some 18 people have been arrested to help with the investigations. This seems to be the same number of people who had jetted into Istanbul the same day Khashoggi was lured into the Saudi Consulate, never to be seen again.

For the benefit of legal discourse, we'll give the Saudis the time to complete the investigations.

But NATO  also has an immediate interest in this case, because the killing took place in one of its member states.The murder of Khashoggi was a terrorism act, carried out by state agents of one country in another country.

If NATO allows this open violation of a member state's sovereignty, then NATO will have abdicated its role as a collective defender of all member states. At minimum, NATO should demand that Saudi Arabia meets Turkey's demand to surrender the suspects Turkish authorities for further legal actions.

Saudi Arabia may be wealthy and magnanimous to some NATO members, but that economic influence should not shield them from their terrorism acts.
