Kampala. Police in Masindi District have petitioned court seeking an order to exhume the body of the former chairman of Kyamaiso Village, Bwijanga in Masindi District.

The application follows allegations that the body of Charles Mugisa, who was buried in January, was in the house of David Kyenkya, a resident of Kidalizo Village who allegedly retrieved it from the grave with the motive of eating it.
The Masindi District police commander, Mr Samuel Odongo, yesterday said they have sought a court order to allow them exhume the body as part of investigations into the matter.

"Police has put up a team of officers to secure a court order to enable us ascertain whether the body is in the grave or not." Mr Odongo said.
"If we don't find the body in the grave, then we will task Kyenkya, who is being accused of retrieving it from the grave, to explain how this happened," he said.
However, Mr Odongo appealed to the residents to remain calm throughout the process.
