- British man may have been living in green shed near Carlisle from the age of 18
- Victim, now 58, taken to safety by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
- Photographs of the shed show it had a bed on the floor and a single chair inside
- A 79-year-old British man now held on suspicion of modern slavery offences
A suspected slavery victim was today rescued from the shed where he may have lived for more than 40 years.
The 58-year-old British man was found inside the decrepit green-painted 6ft square shed near Carlisle, Cumbria during a raid this morning.
The alleged victim, who is feared to have been held there from the age of 18, appears to have been living for decades in a building with a TV, one chair, a makeshift bed on the floor and an electric heater.
But today he was helped to safety by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA).

GLAA officers attended a home north of Carlisle to carry out the dawn raid and recover the potential victim.
He has been taken away by specialist trauma officers to be medically examined and assessed.
A 79-year-old British man has now been arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences.
The operation has been supported by specialist officers from the National Crime Agency, the Cumbria Housing Department who are investigating possible health and safety breaches, and officers from Cumbria Police.
