What's the matter with most muslim men? Why do they still attack and sexually harrass women walking on the streets or travelling in public transport? Sexual assaults on women has now become a pandemic in all most all muslim countries. In the last 3 months alone, there has been a gruesome gang rape of a young girl in Morocco who was attacked in a bus, and more than 5 rapes are reported in Cairo every single day- these are not opportunistic rapes but women travelling alone in a bus or walking on the streets in broad daylight who are then suddenly attacked by apparently "normal" men. Yesterday I posted the story of the Egyptian activist who filmed herself walking from her home to her bank in central Cairo, a distance of just under one hour, and it was shocking how men harrassed her every inch of the way. She posted this video on social media to highlight the plight of Egyptian women and was promptly arrested and brought before a kangaroo court, charged with "spreading rumours" and sent to jail for two years.
Powerless to stop the harrasment, most Muslim countries are now setting up "Women Only" transport alternatives so that women dont have to come into contact with the barbaric muslim men and get harrassed or raped.. Women Only Buses are now operating in Morocco, Egypt, and even Turkey which used to be liberal has now joined this bandwagon.. From this week, it has now put on the roads a fleet of "Pink Buses" which is for women only and is also driven only by women.
The question I ask is this- for how long will Muslim men continue to behave like savages? Why should anyone need to tell them that raping or sexually harrassing a woman is wrong?
