Hispanic Unemployment Rate Dips to Record Low in October

The national seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for Hispanics and Latinos in the U.S. labor force fell to the lowest level on record in October of 2018, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released Friday show.
In October, the unemployment rate for Hispanics and Latinos, aged 16 and up, was 4.4%, down from 4.5% in September, which had been the lowest level since the BLS began tracking Hispanic-Latino employment data in 1973.
The both the number of Hispanics employed and the number participating in the workforce rose, while the number unemployed fell in October. The labor force participation rate also increased.
Hispanic-Latino employment statistics for September 2018:
- Unemployment rate: 4.4%, down from 4.5% in September
- Number Employed: 27,252,000 up from 27,059,000 in September
- Number Unemployed: 1,248,000, down from 1,287,000 in September
- Labor Force Participation: 66.2%, up from 66.0% in September
- Civilian Noninstitutionalized Population (16+ years old): 28,346,000, up from 28,242,000 in September
- Number Participating in Labor Force: 28,500,000, up from 28,346,000 in September
