Find out what the Editor of The Telegraph thinks you should be reading this week.

Remembering the fallen

By Chris Evans Editor, The Telegraph

Dear reader,

This weekend marks the anniversary of a moment of unimaginable consequence. Across Europe and many other parts of the world, people will fall silent on Sunday to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War and world leaders of every stature will gather in France to pay their respects. In anticipation, The Telegraph has put together a series of articles debating Britain's place in European security then, now and in the future. The final part, looking at the role of national service in Britain, will be published tomorrow.

Across the Atlantic, we have witnessed another instalment in the great drama of American democracy, with citizens of the United States voting for their representatives in Congress in the midterm elections. The results have been much less decisive than many had predicted, and the US appears just as divided as it was in 2016. The question that I imagine is on lots of your minds is: What does this mean for 2020? Well, our data team have taken a look at the stats and found that the Democrats shouldn't be too confident of making Donald Trump the first one-term president since George Bush Sr.

With autumn having well and truly arrived, many of you will be faced with the difficulties of managing housebound children and their ever-growing piles of homework. You are not alone. In a refreshing interview, Charlize Theron opens up to Kate Bussmann about the difficulties of being a parent, not being afraid to ask for help and what choosing adoption meant for her.

Now yoga is a marvellous thing, but the idea of five hours a day for a week is enough to make my muscles cringe. That prospect hasn't deterred Charlotte Cox, who spent seven days in the Tuscan hills on a yoga retreat and cut out all toxins while she was at it. Is Charlotte fully recharged and more flexible than ever, or still crumpled in a heap and aching all over? You'll have to read this to find out.

Finally, I'm sure many of you will have sat through the agonising tension of last Saturday's 12-11 victory for England over South Africa, and there's another big weekend of rugby to come. No doubt you'll be wondering how England will cope when they face the intimidating might of the All Blacks and what hope there is of repeating that famous 2014 victory. Charlie Morgan has taken a look at the mistakes England need to cut out and the good habits they can build on.

I hope you are enjoying this newsletter, but do please continue to send me your thoughts. And as ever, there's always much, much more on our website.
